Singing in January. Oh What Fun!

Next Singing Session

Saturday 13th January 2018

We will be starting at 2 PM so don't miss out on warm ups and the starting agenda.

Location: Thompson Rd @ Debbie's place

Agenda:

Breathing like a Balloon
Picture a balloon filled with air is inside of you.
The sound you can make is by squeezing the lip at the top. Only a small amount of air is released that makes a sound. The large amount of air within the balloon provides force to your singing. You support that balloon with your rib muscles and back muscles.

Support
Remember ... we do not control our diaphragm. It is a reactionary muscle that simply reacts to our breath, drawing the lungs down and pushing them back up to take in and expel air. Use your rib muscles and lower back muscles to support the sound. When you sing a phrase, you should feel pressure in your Latissimus Dorsi for example.

Pitch Memory Training
We will be using your pitch card in front of your face, and practice ear training by listening to a scale. Sing into the card, and does it match the pitch? Can you remember it even if I play the scale in another key?
